Apple Targets Indian Customers Through Its Stores

Apple to initiate a store in store program in India by collaborating with Infinity Retail.

As per Patently Apple, some of Apple iPhones will be sold in the Indian market through an innovative “store in store program” through its collaboration with partner stores. The tech behemoth has now added Infinity Retail that is owned by Croma to become their primary distributors in the Indian market. Croma is basically an enterprise owned by TATA. Apple Inc. at this point is extremely keen about bolstering the Indian economy and is among one of those American companies that are on the forefront to make their way in the region. On the other hand, Mr. Narednra Modi who is the Prime Minister of India believes that the sole way through which the United States based firms can establish their base in India is by shifting their production in this region. Foreign investors will only be welcomed in the region if they agree to associate a “Made in Indai” label to their products and service. This is the reason why Foxconn is now interested in making its way to India so that it can adhere to the government’s laws. Apart from this, when Mr. Modi recently visited the United States, he also met Mr. Tim Cook- the chief executive officer at Apple where both the parties mutually made an understanding before officially entering the market. The store in store program by Apple will be similar to their own Apple stores when it comes to layout, design, lighting and fixtures. Moreover, the staff will also get training from the iPhone maker. A total of 6 activations of this nature will be operational where 5 will be situated in Mumbai. Many analysts at this point believe if the company wishes to make its debut in India then they will have to move their production in the region. Other Us based companies like Amazon are also present in the region but they are facing a relatively tough time due to the local competitors. India is known for promoting its local brands and industries thus Apple is likely to face tough competition too in the region. If the company shifts to India then they can achieve the economies of scale allowing them to reduce the pricings of their products in the region. However, the lifestyle of the Indian masses along with their per capita income will actually make it tough for them to afford the elite commodity. Apple needs to consider all possibilities before actually making a move to the region since the economic conditions are not stable in India.
